Flipping the toasts |
Paula Deen inspired me again. I thought I was watching her make your run of the mill French toast the other day on TV. What was I thinking? Paula Deen doesn’t do ordinary. She was making French toast stuffed with mixture of banana, freshly grated nutmeg, and chopped walnuts. Then she topped it with powered sugar and drizzled it with honey. It looked like a giant sandwich fried in butter. Add bacon on the side and it’s truly the breakfast of champions.
Very rich! |
Being the experimental type, I served one French toast with mayple syrup and mine with chocolate sauce. Even though I was sure the chocolate would taste better with the banana, the maple syrup won the topping battle. Also, even though Paula insists on thick hand-sliced bread, I found that thinner pre-sliced bread would work better. Give it a try, ya’ll!
