Mama Miya!

I gotta give props to Bun, the owner of Miya's Sushi in downtown New Haven. He spear fishes, dives, invents, and sustains his way to some of the most interesting sushi I've ever had. On a recent trip to his Indy-trendy restaurant, I was spoiled by some of his creations. Sorry about the bad photo quality, I have a no-flash policy for dining out. Here they are...

Fried potato salad and Ethiopian
style roll with avocado and asparagus.

Raw fish "flower"

Local oysters
(My companion ate one before
I could snap away!)

Fried local crabs "attacking" our potato skin sushi
in onion "grass" served on a real rock!

Tengu very much!

The neighbor and I hit up our local sushi and hibachi restaurant, Tengu, today and ordered the "queen" and "rainbow." My dish, queen sushi, consisted of spicy crabmeat, crunch, avocado, tobiko inside, salmon and the chef's special sauce.
